I apologize on what happened! And I am sorry to hear that you have felt that way. It’s understandable that frustration.
Personally I doubt this can be counted as an excuse. The incompatibility issue has been always existing on all kinds of storage medias (form old time floppy disks to nowadays SSD hard-drives ) not only SD cards! As an IT pro for more than 25+ years, I’ve also had many experience on solving this type of issues for clients and for myself as well. I would say “bad luck” is more appropriate.
